Mixed groups do well at Birkdale, where everyone can split up for an hour and regroup for dinner. Outdoor-minded guests will want Latta’s trails; history-minded guests, Rural Hill; families with young children, Quest, the Raptor Trail and Discovery Place Kids.

A sample two-day visit
Day one: Quest and a short Latta trail in the morning, the Raptor Trail late morning, lunch at Birkdale, an afternoon to rest, and dinner back at the village. Day two: brunch, then Rural Hill (call ahead for tour times) or a picnic at Blythe Landing Park.
For guests with young children, swap in Discovery Place Kids downtown and check its entry times first.
